You made out well today! Congratulations on all 4 awards Peter!
Which plant has the strongest fragrance? Which one has the best?
I'm guessing JGC'P' scored the highest. Start saving for that award money! :)

Yep! Maybe Peter needs to start something like a legal defense fund -- kind of like the donations for operations of this Forum, but in this case, "Awards Cost Fund...?"

Congratulations, Peter; we know you waited an especially long time for that Jong's Gigan Cherry to flower...

Thank you everyone. I bought a small stem prop in 2014. I saw this flower in person when I was in Taiwan 2015 - so it's special that I finally have one. Although this plant can bloom better, and have more flowers in the future - I couldn't resist showing it because the color is just tremendous !
This is going to be a good parent for more colorful novelty to come in the near future.

Peter where would you go with attempts at future breeding?
JGC 'Prince' attributes:
size--already on the large size for gigantea hybrid
color--probably the deepest yellow of the gig hybrids
floriferousness--already pretty good based on available pics
spiking habit--worth modifying?
blotchiness--worth modifying?
fragrance ? other attributes? do you think it is diploid?
Enlighten us! Jeff

Hi Jeff,
I also replied to you in email.

It's been 3-4 years since first stem prop of this plant been released. We bought our stem prop at Redland 2014. There are many hybrid registered with this as a parent - but I have yet to see an example photo of every hybrid registered. By next year we should see flowers of many new hybrid made with this plant from Taiwan.

It remains to be seen if this is going to be a good parent. I love the result of Jong's Gigan Cherry x gigantea.

Peter
