Carter and Holmes stock plant is Phalaenopsis gigantea 'Johnette' (from a selfing of the awarded 'Harford' cultivar). This plant came as a little baby from The Little Greenhouse. Now a fine sized plant that blooms probably only every other year. We keep it in a warm but shady house to prevent leaf problems and this prevents frequent flowerings.
Our original selfing of 'Johnette' was #8888 and we have just bloomed a seedling for the first time. This plant is growing in a 6" hanging basket in sphagnum, spongerock and tree fern media. Not tight. And was only repotted spring of 2017 so not root bound by any means. Yet here are da blooms!

I am also happy to report that while #8888 is very much sold out, we have a new selfing in our lab that are doing remarkably well in VERY high quantities. And a new bloom spike for hopefully this year that holds promise.
