Hello All! I hope everyone is having a beautiful spring! Blair and I have been in our new home for about 3 weeks now, and I've managed to get the orchids settled in their new home also. We still have quite a bit of work being done on the house, which has been stressful since we are both currently working from home. But this room has been my go-to for relaxation and I find myself coming here whenever I get a chance  I love it, and I hope that the orchids will as well.

I love the hanging baskets :) I put some of my violaceas in them, and some other favorites as well. I have some old soda crates that a friend gave me, and I decided to repurpose one for the time being from which to hang some other orchids, so don't judge me on how ugly that looks right now

The humidity has been in the 60-80% range, I don't have a light meter, but the leaves look good so far. The top of the Solarium already had some tinting in the glass. But I'll need to keep an eye out to see about more shade as the sun intensifies. I have a fan going strong all day for good air movement. I purchased some cheap shade cloth from Lowe's, and Blair and I got it installed. It was really difficult without a measuring tape :? With the shape and construct of the solarium some areas were hard to get done properly, but when we order the real stuff we'll get it done right :) but for now it seems to be doing the job! I've got a few things coming into spike, hoping for a very fragrant summer

LOL. I would advise that Bryan fill it slowly. It's too easy to fill it up now because you are paying the same utilities. One thing we never calculate or anticipate is the time required to properly care for these plants.

Thanks everyone :) I know there is so much space! Feel free to send "solarium warming" gifts

Brian- I wish! But seriously, it already takes me over an hour to water all of the ones I already have, and I'm really not much of a morning person- learning though! I'm starting school on Thursday at the Aveda Institute Charlotte for cosmetology, and I'll also be working full time from home  It's going to be a crazy year, but it's all very exciting, and I'm happy I have this little corner of the world to escape to!

Looks great! When's the big party ;)
Plant you some philodenron and let it attach and run all across the ceiling, it will add extra beauty as well as give shade to the orchids below. Soon it will look like a jungle in there. I will see what i can dig up to send for your house warming ;)

We started doing some painting this weekend, so I'll keep you posted ;) I didn't even think about growing a vine (other than vanilla) on the interior for shade- that's a great idea that I'll definitely look into! Thank you :)
