Breeding for Tetraploid Red Phalaenopsis - A. Dean Stock, Ph.D.
" The major reasons for breeding towards tetraploid red phalaenopsis is to increase flower size and to obtain a more standard phal shape."

This article is first published in IPA Journal - Phalaenopsis - Foruth Quarter 2005 issue.

Thank you Dr. Stock for allowing us to share this article online.

I have wondered how best to add additional clones and grex information to the list. I belive that I will add new infomations here and see how it works out.

I have just finished a new feature at the Hybridizer's Forum; it is a comprehensive list of Dean's counted cultivars and grexes. It extends the information originally published in his article on breeding tetraploid red Phalaenopsis, and includes new counts he has done that are not necessarily relevant to red hybrids. We will try to keep this up to date.

When you first load the page, it has all grexes and cultivars listed; you can apply filters to see just tetraploids, triploids diploids or aneuploids displayed.

You do not have to be a member of the forum to use this feature.

Hi Peter,

No rush on this, but some time could you please repost Dr. Stock's article? Link doesn't work. Thanks.
