About Our Hybrid Photo Forum

Post by peterlin » Mon Mar 29, 2010 6:20 am

There are several reasons for this forum.
Main purpose of this forum is to have a place for us to display flower pictures of hybrids by Big Leaf Orchids. Due to limited space and the number of plants that I care for - I may not be able to flower many of my own hybrid to see the variations.
The other reason is that I hope to learn breeding characteristics of parents used in these hybrid. Some of the hybrids I made are speculative. These are ones that I like the most, and they are meant to be fun and unpredictable.
So I invite my customers who have flowered seedlings of my crosses to share their photos here.

Thank you Nick.

Pylo - our 5+ year old Pomeranian. He is special to our family. Pylo does not help with watering or repotting, but his job is to look cute and be petted. He does his job well in that regard.

This is a great idea. It will be a while before I bloom out any of your crosses but I learn a lot from seeing the results of particular pairings.

Anyone who considers their dog a family member is ok in my book.

I was just thinking about this again today, i think it's a great idea, and it would be great if people put all of their flowering pictures in this forum (not just the good ones). With enough people contributing we can get a good chance to look at the traits of the parents, and of the kids, and learn about the heritability and expression of traits. And since most of Peter's hybrids are in the rarer species, i'm sure there is a lot of new information to be learned from a group effort.

I hope to bloom out many of your various crosses over the next 6 months - 1 year.
