Phal Pylo's Bellina
(bellina X Grosbeak 'Peter Lin')

We made this hybrid to have more of fragrant colorful Phal bellina like flowers. Pod parent is a Phal bellina originated from Joseph Wu – from ‘Joy’ and ‘Ponkan’. It has a lot of green color and flower is large. Pollen parent Phal Grosbeak ‘Peter Lin’ originated from Zuma Canyon, where the Phal George Vasquez used is George Vasquez ' Green Meadow' AM/AOS that is like a superb Phal bellina. We are hoping this hybrid should have the hybrid vigor and be somewhat easier to grow than species Phal bellina.

Was there any hybrid vigor and is the flower fragrant like bellina? With so much bellina, I'd guess it is.

Congratulations, that looks really well grown. I bought a flask of this from you, but mine are a long way from blooming. I guess you keep them pretty warm?

Randy - I started to sell flask of this hybrid in July 2009. So flowering a bellina hybrid 2 years out of flask is not too bad. Next plant to flower is almost as large as this one. Time will tell if this will be floriferous. I smell this flower and it smells like a Phal bellina.
Lou - yes, you got a flask from me August 2009.
I oversold this hybrid..so I traded with Sarah. She sent me 2 very well grown compots last summer. This plant had a spike started in November last year but stalled - probably due to change of cooler temperature.

Hi Peter -- got your email. I am glad one of them we traded has bloomed. A couple of mine are in spike, but not in bud yet. I should have flowers by the end of the summer. And I'll update my tags with the new name as well.
