From Peter.

Off-season flowering, for which I am grateful. Unlike rather a lot of things, this one makes more intense yellow coloring in longer days...and WARMER nights. Hmmm. The fragrance is pure bellina.

I have absolutely no idea what do to with it as a parent. Both of its parents are either green or chartreuse. Peter has also posted a yellow seedling from this cross (better than this one). I do have LD's Bear King 'Peter #2' so, maybe next year...

One of the parents, which must be highly vigorous, is Yin's Bellina Kaiulani 'Green Bellina' which I think was earlier offered (I think my old mind is correct) by Peter; I am heart-sick at not buying it; I hesitated in order to "think," and by the time I said to myself, "yes," it was sold out: note to all Forum young'uns: if it looks good now, buy it NOW!! It may be years, if at all, before you see it offered again.

Best to all,
Walton

Thanks, Sylvi. I like your "take" on it -- some things are "powerful" or "bold," but this one is a cutie for certain. Plus, it looks like the plant will remain very compact all of its life, which means so much to those of us who grow indoors. I have three other plants from this cross and all three grow "normal" size. This one is also very long lasting. I will be tempted to use it as a parent, but I do not know with what. Its color is so intense that it might could bring more yellow into some of the lobbii lines of breeding while maintaining plant size; we'll see!
