After 3 years, this is the first of my seedlings from Peter to bloom, Nobby's Green Eagle x violacea(indigo). Has any other board member flowered this hybrid?. It has been a weak grower with pale green leaves as you can see. It almost died twice, but seems to be healthy now. The colors in the image are true and the plant is definitely a horizontal grower. While this first flower is small, it produces a very powerfull fragrance which fills the room all day. Expecting a jasmine type of fragrance I was surprised by something more akin to an old tea rose scent. A nice gift for a rose grower of yore!

A fellow rose grower of yore writing here. I used to grow mostly Portland class for their Damask scent, but I did have my favorite Teas and...I, too, was surprised to confidently put my nose into one seedling Phal. this year that I knew would have bellina fragrance, only to be transported back to my rose days immediately! Looks like your seedling may give you the best of both worlds over time.

I hope you don't mind my asking (re.: your note about the leaf color, etc.), how often to you leach the pots with plain water? Good to see that your plant is off and running now; I can only imagine how fragrant it will be when it gets on up in size!

To Waltoninlet,

Hi fellow ex-rosarian.

In answer to your query, I try to flush with clear, warm filtered water about every 4th watering although this is sometimes tough to schedule exactly when almost every pot is watered at different times depending upon the plant and size of pot. The little guys like this I try to keep on a regular schedule and also clean the outside and bottom of the pot at the same time.
