Trying here to update with larger photo...

Made with the chattaladae form at C&H. Yes, fragrant. I really like '#2'. What say ye?

Walton

And how!

I asked that question of the folks at Carter and Holmes (I can now report the source). The new, young grower had not checked that part out. When she did, she e.mailed to me that the fragrance nearly knocked her off of her feet and was even stronger than corningiana itself. I know that there are darker/fuller strains of this out there, but I was intrigued by the width of the lip in particular on this one.

Hello - I would love to enjoy your photos but when I click on them they are very tiny. Am I doing anything wrong or is the size of your pictures just so tiny? I am too blind to see them clearly that size ;) edit: This size what I see they look like hybrids but not like cornu-cervi species.

Sylvi -

These were the photos taken at Carter and Holmes; I, too, have a hard time seeing them, so I will ask them to send a larger image. An interesting note: this cross is producing plants that about 50% show the spike habit of cornu-cervi and 50% more like corningiana spikes. The corningiana is from a cross that has produced nearly completely solid red flowers...I am trying to get my paws on one, even just one, but so far, the unflowered ones are being held in a tightly-clutched grasp of a strong hand! P.S., I find the name of this hybrid to be perhaps not the most convenient choice because it reads too much like a species if I read it fast. These seedlings are indeed a hybrid, not cornu-cervi, but Corning-Cervi.

Hi Walton,

Ah - so I misunderstood - or did not read slowly enough - I apologize - of course you had stated that these are cornu-cervi primaries with corningiana. Please no trouble just because of me - but from what I see - I would prefer #2 also :D
I keep fingers crossed you can get one for yourself

Thanks, Sylvi -- no inconvenience for me at all. I think I did succeed in posting a larger photo of the '#2'.

All best,
Walton
