CRAP! Found the first signs of snails in the greenhouse this morning. Thought I would ask everyone for their favorite way of dealing with (KILLING) these critters. I don't want to do anything that will reduce or 'discourage' them. I want to eradicate the dang things! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Kipper

This is suggested by Bill Thoms in his Bulbo book. Deadline is a product that is very effective for all mollusks. Apply this gray paste around plants being affected by slugs and snails. However this product is hard on pets. If you have pets he suggest SLUGGO.

Metaldehyde baits – Deadline is my favorite bait, since my pets have never shown an interest in the gooey liquid.

I'm curious how long is the shelf life on this chemical.

A shallow saucer of beer will attract and drown them. Additionally, a product named Escar-Go is effective and is pet safe.

I'm sorry, but that comment about pets not being the least interested is just plain ignorant of the fact that Metaldehyde is a very effective poison to all mammals.

Interested or not, having it be available for exposure to them is asking for trouble.
