Now that's quite catchy, there is an Alsatian orchid fan who did the same type of setup a long time ago. I think he is also a member here.
this is his blog of the setup ( in french unfortunately) but lots of pictures... :D

Gilles I hope you won't mind me quoting you but there is no better tutorial as far as I know.

Sylvia & Olaf,

You two have certainly captured the attention and admiration of our users.

Few of us have the time, space, energy or resources to build and maintain an outdoor greenhouse. Yet relegating our plants to the basement defeats the enjoyment of our hobby. And having them sit around the house in pots and trays (often) defeats our marriages. Your design and implementation of showcase terrariums seems to be exactly what many of us need. There is no question that we love your:

-- superior photos and commentary
-- artful design for plants and presentation
-- effective use of technology
-- simple and clean implementation

I thought I had seen it all until you posted the picture of your rainstorm -- absolutely outstanding!

Your success -- and your willingness to share your techniques -- provides hope and inspiration to rest of us.

Dave

Dave, I was thinking and thinking about what to write as an answer... your kind words are too much an honor for us, but of course we really appreciate what you are saying. We are still learning so much from so many knowlegable people here and really enjoy being part of this unique worldwide phalaenopsis / orchid community :D

Thank's Cody for your wonderful row of smilies ;)

Update - we got a new mini terrarium which is situated in our orchid lightstand. Olaf had a bigger tank with carnivore many years ago. As we both like carnivore, Olaf bought some to try to grow them in the mini terra - have a look here :D

This thread is fantastic, Sylvi!

And that Restrepia looks so at home with all the carnivores in there too! Ha ha! It reminds me of Audrie, from Little Shop of Horrors! Ha ha!

Francis
